shoes that I wore in 1999 when Jim Pulizzi and I beat Western Branch Middle School to win first place in the Chesapeake debate tournament.

Somehow they've manage to stay in my collection for over ten years, and this is the first time they've seen the light since!

They're Antonio Melani, and maybe a little tight.

It was at this same tournament that the WB coach (who turned out to be Mrs. Wheaton's husband and a weekly attendee of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church) came into the girls' bathroom to tell me that I had no chance of winning. What a jerk! I've always wanted to tell her what kind of a person her husband was! But she probably knew. Maybe he did, too, and maybe that's why I always saw him at church!

I wonder if anyone else remembers the sight of a small child dressed like an adult coming out of the bathroom crying? Maybe they remember the shoes, too. Even though it was an upsetting day, I'm thankful that I remember.
